Bio

Hi, I’m Maxine Davis, a Georgia-born, Southern lady that loves to read and loves to write romance and romantic suspense. I like to read old books, new books, a good murder/mystery, or a friend’s novel. I have published a short story, SWEET SUCCESS, and two novels: TRUST ME and THE OLIVE OIL KING AND THE PRINCIPESSA. I plan to have another book out by summer, 2021.

THE OLIVE OIL KING AND THE PRINCIPESSA

Kate Hanley, singing star of Angel and the Devil’s Band, collapsed after their last concert. Under doctor’s orders to rest away from fame, she arrives at a Pensione in a small Italian town where she finally learns to take life easy. Love is the last thing on her agenda — until she meets Alessandro Rossi, a neighbor who produces the best olive oil in Italy. He knows her as Kate from North Carolina, his beautiful fairy-tale princess. His mysterious disdain for pop stars keeps her from revealing her true life. When her cousin expectantly arrives with a shadowy secret, it brings danger to Kate’s sanctuary and demanding revelations that test Kate and Alessandro’s love.

Blog Post

Without a doubt, I adored Dame Agatha Christie. The first book of hers that I read stamped on my brain the brilliance of this woman and began my love for a good murder. She was an English crime novelist, short-story writer and playwright. Mrs. Christie’s 66 detective novels and 14 short-story collections have sold over two billion copies, an amount surpassed only by the Bible and the works of William Shakespeare.

Two of her ever-popular sleuths are Belgian detective Hercule Poirot with his famous moustache and Miss Marple whose quiet perceptions were astounding. When she started to write, her sister told her to write detective stories with the murderer being the most unlikely character — and she never failed to do this.

I think she was brilliant. Her novel And Then There Were None is one of the highest-selling books of all time, with approximately 100 million copies sold. Christie’s stage play The Mousetrap holds the world record for the longest initial run. Of the movies made from her books, my personal favorite has to be Witness for the Prosecution.

Favorite quotes: “My dear, if you attract murderers, then you will attract murderers.” –Agatha Christie, The Body in the Library
